MOSES and Digital Earth - a Synthesis for Efficient Measurement Campaigns and valuable data
MOSES and Digital Earth work closely together to address the challenges of studying the interactions between short-term events and long-term trends across various Earth compartments. In this year's MOSES campaigns in the process chain of extreme hydrological events, the expertise of the DE team contributes e.g. to identify ideal measurement sites or measurement schemes. With the help of Uta Ködel and Erik Nixdorf (DE Team at the UFZ) also in the coordination of the measurement campaign and the actual data collection, valuable data could be collected in the Müglitz valley. In this Müglitz Valley, the study focused on the heavy rainfall events and their influence on the water balance of a low mountain range catchment area. This resulted huge dataset could be used e.g. for prediction and forecasts also within DE.
